So I thought it would be cool to get webmin to work on a server 2003 box. I recently got Squid for windows working so I thought it would be really cool to be able to admin the squid from webmin. Well even though there is a windows installer here http://www.webmin.com/windows.html I was never able to make it work. I’m not sure if I was using the version of perl that it wanted, I tried 5.10 and 5.8.something or maybe the version of webmin. All in all I didn’t have luck. If anyone has any tips like use this version of webmin with this version of perl I would love to here it.
Tried installing it on a server 2008 r2, said Perl wasn’t installed … Don’t know if there is a work around but yeah would be nice to get webmin installed on a server os.
The Perl installation installs in Perl64 which Webmin doesn’t recongnize. I change the folder name removing 64 and webmin installed. but still isn’t working. I believe my IIS 7 is conflicting.
Install ActivePerl first. It should be installed in C:\Perl or else the installer file will NOT see it as being installed.
If you want to use the x64 ActivePerl just make a symlink.
If you used default directories the command is
“mklink C:\Perl C:\Perl64 /D”.
Worked for me.
webmin doesn’t work met perl x64, you need to install x32
