There is a BIOS hard disk diagnostic program. It takes 1 min for each GB wow… that would take a long to time check the whole drive.

Using the recovery DVD the first step is ‘preparing hard disk’ … this step can take a long time before the screen will give you any feedback… you just have to be patient.
