This is somewhat what I could imagine a doc tracking screen looking like for BOTS (UI stolen from flyspray)

If you click on the document it would show you the raw EDI. There would be a IN box and a SENT box.

BOTS would also match the FA/997 to sent documents and change the status of the DOC from N (not ack’ed) to A for acknowledged or R if rejected.

Also bots would generate a 997 for received documents.
